2. Surface Preparation (Critical for Adhesion)

Proper prep ensures the powder adheres well and lasts long:

• Cleaning: Remove grease, oil, and dirt using a degreaser or alkaline cleaner.

• Etching (Optional): Light abrasion (sandblasting with fine media like aluminum oxide) improves adhesion.

• Chemical Treatment (Recommended for Longevity):

  • Chromate Conversion Coating (Alodine): Enhances corrosion resistance.

  • Phosphate Coating (for some applications).

• Rinsing & Drying: Ensure no contaminants remain before coating.

3. Powder Coating Process

• Electrostatic Application: Spray charged powder particles onto the grounded aluminum part.

• Cooling: Allow the part to cool before handling.
